About the Dial Faces:
Nautilus Shell Dial
The Chambered Nautilus grows its shell in a perfect 'Golden Mean spiral'-a
universal pattern of harmonious growth which is also reflected in the clock's
chime progression sequence.
Japanese Wave Dial
This dial face is adopted from the masterpiece The Great Wave by Katsushika
Hokusai (1760-1849). This image comes from a woodblock print included in
Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji-part of the 'floating world' art
movement in feudal Japan.
Zen Garden Dial
Concentric circles of raked sand suggest the tranquillity of a Zen garden.
The character at the top of the dial means "inner peace."
Zodiac Dial
This astrologically-themed dial face employs the 12 signs of the zodiac as
numbers set upon a background photograph of the planet Neptune.
Labyrinth Dial
The ancient labyrinth in this dial face is taken from the floor of Chartres
Cathedral were it served as a walking meditation for early Christian pilgrims.
Dream Kanji Dial
This elegant dial face features the oriental character for "dream" set
against a simple rice paper background.
Art Nouveau Dial
This dial face is inspired by the Art Nouveau movement which captured the romantic
mood of the early 20th Century.
Cloud Dial
This dial face is from a photograph of clouds taken from 30,000 feet over the
Colorado Rockies. Tick marks at the edge indicate the position of the hours.
Roman Numeral Dial
This dial face reflects the 'time-tested' tradtion of over 600 years of clock
making. The Roman chapters are set against a subtle white marble background.
Arabic Numbers Dial
Simple and elegant numbers against a bluish background remenicent of an abalone
shell.
